Welcome, I’m Marnie!

I’m a physiotherapist of 20+ years, with a passion for helping people to learn how to manage their pain and injuries, movement and postural problems and to return to the activities that are important to them.

I’m also a yoga teacher, who loves teaching group and 1:1 classes and sharing the benefits of yoga, pranayama (breathwork), meditation and relaxation with people. I believe that most of us need a little encouragement and help to learn how to slow down and take time for ourselves - to find some balance.

And that once we do, the physical, emotional and psychological health benefits we experience are endless.

Yoga provides some amazing tools to assist with this. And, anyone can do yoga - a yoga practice can be completely tailored for every single body!

I have worked in the public health system in Bendigo for the majority of my career, with some stints overseas and in Queensland, focussing mainly in the areas of musculoskeletal dysfunction, completing study and work experience in managing persistent pain and hydrotherapy. I’m also currently completing further study in the areas of pelvic health, pre and post-natal yoga, birth preparation and yoga for fertility.

My journey with yoga began 19 years ago while working full time, with a part-time job in private practice, as well as studying and participating in multiple sports and training (not to mention, squeezing every social engagement possible in.)

I had difficulty being still and understanding and embracing the concept of ‘slowing down and taking time out for myself’. My life was all about doing more and fitting more into every day.

I booked in for my first-ever beginner’s yoga series with the aim of improving my core strength, flexibility and improving performance on the netball and basketball courts.

My understanding of yoga at the time was that it was all about contorting the body into bendy poses…

My mind was blown as I walked out of my first-ever class, with a feeling of complete calm, ease, and peace that I had never experienced!

Yoga was far from what I had expected, and whilst still presenting physical challenges, the focus on the breath, body awareness and being present, and savasana (relaxation) was something that I was immediately hooked on!

In 2017 - I decided to further my knowledge in yoga by completing a Diploma of Vitality Yoga Teacher Training - a 12-month course that allowed me to take the step into teaching and implementing yoga into my everyday life.

Today, my classes blend my in-depth physiotherapy experience and knowledge of anatomy and biomechanics with hatha yoga postures and philosophy, and a focus on total well-being and self-care.

I enjoy working with you to help achieve your goals, return to the activities that are important to you, and get you back to being the best version of yourself. This is my passion and I’m so grateful to be living it with Nurture - Physiotherapy + Yoga!
